With the exception of some bulls to keep our bloodlines clean, all our cattle have been born at Knapdale. Auctions are live & online centrally located, all breeds welcome.The decision to farm Scottish Highland Cattle was to keep the roots with Scotland - Knapdale is the name of the lands the McMillans farmed in Scotland. We have raised mini cattle for over 25 years. We have selected the best Lowline Angus, Miniature Hereford, and Belted Galloway cattle we can find to produce our Panda cattle.
They look and act like Herefords but are hardy like Florida Crackers. We also maintain a cross-bred, horned herd of "Crackerfords" (Mini Hereford x Florida Cracker). Their size and temperament make them easy to work with by young and old alike. Our registered cattle are polled (not horned), gentle and family friendly. Sowers does not test, so plan to test your own upon purchase. His herds carry chondro-he has developed good beefy conformation cattle that known to handle chondro with no problems. He has bred mini cattle for over 30 years and always has nice small, colorful cattle available with gentle temperaments, that make good beef or bucking bulls. I don't know that he still calls them Toy Sundogs anymore. Sowers is a quiet but legendary long time breeder of beautiful, gentle, tiny cattle he started the Toy Sundog composite breed years ago.
